Terms & conditions

Last updated: 1 January 2026

This is a general template covering the kind of terms a website-and-hosting agency typically needs. It isn't legal advice — have a solicitor review and adapt it (particularly the liability, refund and SLA sections) to match your actual contracts before relying on it.

1. About these terms

These terms and conditions govern your use of the easyhost.uk website and any design, hosting, domain or email service you purchase from us. By placing an order or using our services, you agree to these terms. "You" means the individual or business purchasing services; "we", "us" and "our" means easyhost.uk.

2. Our services

Depending on the plan you choose, our services may include: website design and build using a template or a custom design; domain name registration and renewal; web hosting, SSL and backups; and email forwarding, with a personal mailbox available as a paid add-on. The exact features included in each plan are set out on our pricing page and in your order confirmation.

3. Plans, billing & payment

Plans are billed monthly or annually in advance, as selected at sign-up. Prices are shown exclusive of VAT unless stated otherwise. We'll notify you of any price change at least 30 days before it takes effect; continuing to use the service after that date means you accept the new price. Failed or overdue payments may result in your website or email being temporarily suspended until payment is received.

4. Domain names

Where we register a domain on your behalf, it is registered in your name as the registrant, subject to the relevant registry's own terms (for example, Nominet's terms for .uk domains). We manage renewal for you while your plan is active; if your plan ends, you remain the domain owner and can either continue renewal directly with a registrar or ask us to help transfer it.

5. Content & intellectual property

You own the content you provide us (text, photos, logos, product information) and grant us permission to use it to build and operate your website. The underlying template code, and any custom code we write, remains our intellectual property, licensed to you for use on your site for as long as your plan is active. Upon cancellation, we'll provide an export of your content; template and custom code licences end when your plan ends unless we agree otherwise in writing.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to use our services to host or send: content that is illegal, defamatory, or infringes someone else's rights; malware or content intended to disrupt other systems; or unsolicited bulk email. We may suspend or remove content that breaches this section, and will aim to notify you when reasonably possible.

7. Service levels & support

We aim for at least 99.9% hosting uptime, excluding scheduled maintenance (which we'll notify you of in advance where practical) and events outside our reasonable control. Support is provided by email, with response times as described on our pricing page for your plan. Content update rounds included in your plan cover reasonable text, image and detail changes; larger changes (new pages, redesigns) will be quoted separately.

8. Cancellation & termination

You may cancel your plan at any time by giving us 30 days' written notice. We may suspend or end a plan if payment is significantly overdue, or if these terms are breached and not remedied within a reasonable period after we notify you. On cancellation, we'll provide a copy of your website content and reasonable assistance transferring your domain, where applicable.

9. Liability

We'll provide our services with reasonable care and skill. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses (such as loss of profits or business opportunity), and our total liability for any claim relating to our services is limited to the fees you've paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes to our services or the law. We'll post the updated version here with a new "last updated" date, and let active clients know of any significant change.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
